OKAY SO this is all over the place, I'm sorry

Hanna will always be Hunter's bro!! He likes just hanging out with him and talking about movies and other dorky things. Lately things have been not awkward or anything but less casual, I guess? Because Hunter is really trying to be cool with the whole "oh Hanna just doesn't talk about anything, ever" thing, and he's been talking to Jade about it somewhat so he knows that it's not just him, but sometimes he gets frustrated because... while he totally gets what it's like to not want to talk about things, and is guilty of it a lot himself, he thinks that people should talk about them sometimes. '-' Even things regarding Jennifer, which (he assumes) shouldn't be off-limits because Hanna has assured him that nothing was going on there, are kind of... not on the table with Hanna.

So on the one hand Hunter is like "Hanna is one of my best friends and he's my bro and I don't want to make him talk about things he doesn't want to talk about," but on the other hand he's like "It's so annoying that he won't talk about anything EVEN WHEN WE'RE EATING EMOTIONAL CHICKEN SOUP," but Hunter isn't ballsy enough to bring it up right now. He's just going to whine to Jade about it.

As for the Jennifer stuff specifically, Hunter is kind of worried that even despite what Hanna's said to him, that he's stepping on Hanna's toes or something? But it's been so long that he doesn't see how it could matter that much even if there is something. And he thinks it's nice that Hanna is all "get it, bro" and supportive, even if he feels awkward. '3'

I KNOW WE DID THIS RECENTLY ALREADY, but there have been been some conversations since then, particularly about their relationship status. So, anything new for Jennifer and Hunter?

Jiu Wu: STILL BUDS but his incessant smileyness is making her distant right now because she's dealing with some heavy shit, man! But she does like him and appreciates that he looks out for her and tries to make her feel better about whatever's going on with her. She will totally go on more food dates with him in the future. SORRY I'M SO MOODY.

Kamio: Sheee likes him, but she always feels kind of awkward around him because they never seem to actually cross the line between "OH HEY I KNOW YOU..." and "FRIENDS" so they're just always kinda. Casually talking. Not really hanging out. Just being in the same area together. But Breeze likes to stick with the other kids her age in camp, so he'll never be rid of her.

REVERSE?

Jiu Wu has actually been going through a lot of heavy stuff himself (though he's starting to pull himself out of it and admit that there is/was a problem), which has made him either either more unbearably 8DDD or completely withdrawn and avoidant, depending on who you are in that whole NOPE NOTHING'S WRONG CARRY ON way. He may have noticed little things different, but he knows they don't really know each other well enough for him to expect she might come talk to him if she wanted to (though she's more than welcome to). He understands all too well the being young and having tough stuff going on thing, so he honestly does try to make her feel at least a little better, even if he doesn't know exactly what's going on. He is relatively protective of her, but at the same time he will generally try to just stand back and let her do her thing. And yes, food dates are always awesome and he'd love it--especially if there are some sort of silly shenanigans involved, as well. (Let us plot Brilliant Ideas) HE CAN TOTALLY DEAL WITH MOODY he has definitely been that recently too.

Kamio actually does like her! He also feels kind of awkward around her (and he's still a little jealous that she can run faster than him). He's kind of weird about girls in general, and she sort of reminds him of An-chan (his canon crush), in that no-nonsense tough-girl kind of way (not to say he has a crush on her; he . . . might actually have one on Vanya oops). He's. Slowly getting more comfortable around her, and actually kind of likes that they can have silly petty teenage arguments about stupid shit or some (at least on his end) good-natured teasing, and he misses getting to hang out with, yanno, kids his own age. SLOWLY BUT SURELY you can bet your butt he'll push for some friendship truce at some point instead of "oh you're Vanya's friend I guess I have to talk to you :|" TL;DR he'll consider her a friend at some point and go "Hey wanna go do ____" 8D

Hunter and Jessica: He really likes her! '-' He has a crush on her, but omg. She's Spider-Woman and far too cool for him, obviously! So he's going to just continue to hang around and try to make Cool Comments About Things in the hope that she won't realize what a total dork he really is (too late). But aside from his crush on her, he thinks she's really nice and he just wants to hang out with her and be her friend and hopefully not embarrass himself too much. P.S. He has no idea that Jessica and Jennifer hang out and when he finds out he's going to have a minor crisis.

Hunter and Wendy: Wendy is still the coolest girl ever. Hunter felt a little awkward around her for a while because of the thing with Jennifer, which he didn't know how to handle, but the last time they talked everything was great and fun and he got to talk about Scooby Doo, so… yes good. Also, he and Jade were talking about their parents and Jade said she was surprised Wendy hadn't talked about her family with him, which kind of surprised him, because it's not something that's really come up with them? But it did make him feel like if he ever needed to talk about his family that he could go to Wendy and she would be cool about it! (UNLIKE ~~HANNA~~ SOME PEOPLE)

Baby Superlesbians: OKAY SO Mindy is Breeze's best friend above anything else, and she is worried that when she updates something will happen that will change that and mean they can't or won't hang out anymore and she'll lose the person who understands her and likes her even though she's violent and weird. '-' The dating thing is… going good, she thinks, but she's not really sure because she's never dated before and wasn't expecting dating to actually have feelings, which she's awful at. But Mindy seems to not hate it, and whenever they have feelings Breeze will just continue to make out with her and hope for the best.

BUT ANYWAY. MINDY'S LIKE. Worried about Breeze except not really? She thinks Brianna's been acting like an idiot more often than usual now. The possibility of her dying at home is distressing but Mindy's PRETTY SURE it won't happen because duh! Breeze is too badass to die!! THE ALTERNATIVE IS WAY TOO DISTRESSING TO EVEN THINK ABOUT so she just straight-up refuses to contemplate it.

Jessica thinks Hunter is really cute and nice AND LIKE I SAID ON PLURK she does have a crush on him maybe. probably. FEELINGS ARE HARD! She appreciates that he treats her pretty normally, all things considered, and that he's been trustworthy so far. Not revealing her secret identity + being a cool roommate with the spiderboys is A++ good job.

WENDY LOVES HUNTER and does judge him slightly for his dating habits but whatever at least she's human now. IF HE EVER BRINGS UP HIS PARENTS wendy would happily tell him things! but she's used to traumaballs like hanna and just avoiding... talking about stuff just in case it's bad times for whoever else is in the conversation.

Canon updating is hard to plan for because it could go, like, sooo wildly different! I mean, they could age up! Or just DIE. Or any other number of things! So I'm kind of like "ahhhh what" about it. /o\

BROSISMANCE: Breeze is worried about Jack and their relationship and how updating will go! She's mostly afraid that things will end up changing and get weird somehow. She already feels like she kind of messed things up by doing the whole "hey I'm dating someone who isn't you" thing. Right now her only idea about how to fix things is by... leading Jack on anyway without technically doing anything romantic with him. Hence the cuddling when they bedninja'd! IT WAS JUST FRIENDLY CUDDLING, JACK, GOSH. Brianna always wants to be in control of their relationship, sigh.

But! She does care about Jack a lot and wants to be his friend, so it's... coming from a good place? Even though she's really immature about it and kind of mean sometimes. '-' SORRY, JACK.

JACK IS…just quietly nursing is feelings and unsure. They still have BROSISMANCE FOREVER, he knows that! They’ve been through so much together and they’re going to stick by each other regardless (or that’s what he intends to do). It just gets more weird and confusing when romantic feelings get involved. He likes her! But he’s trying to sort out if it’s romantic or platonic or what, and even if he did figure it out she’s dating someone else so it’s not like he could pursue it :’| And he knows that he was the one who drew a line of not making out for fun, but with things like cuddling it’s a middle ground so he will just QUIETLY FLAIL AND NOT SAY ANYTHING. Stop giving me mixed signals Brianna!!! But they are awkward teenagers with hormones and also might die whenever they update so he’s more concerned with making sure they both find a way to get out of the FAYZ alive and they can worry about kissing stuff later.

Okok because I am slowly but surely reading Morning Glories, do you think Hunter has a…certain character arc that he’s going through? I am curious!

Tell me things!

Breeze and Vanya: Vanya is still and will always be one of Breeze's best friends. She may not act like it a lot of the time, but she cares about Vanya a lot and is really loyal to her. As they're getting older (or, spending more and more time in Camp, at least) they just don't have as much in common, but Breeze still likes hanging out with Vanya. She's just really easily frustrated and worrying about updating soon is making her even moodier! So she's even more prone to freak out and yell at Vanya, but deep down she really does care about her, and Vanya was the first person she told about updating, even before Jack. The party thing upset her because she didn't think she needed to tell Vanya that the updating wasn't supposed to be public knowledge, but she knows that Vanya meant well by it, so she's not really mad at her, just… upset… /o\ But they will always be friends and Breeze really cares about her.

Hunter and Jade: If you asked Hunter whether he and Jade would be as good friends as they are now when they first got to Camp, he would have been like "Pfft no way." It's not that he wasn't willing to be her friend, but he didn't think they had anything in common or that she was interested in being friends with him at all! So he's kind of eternally surprised by the way things ended up, but he's not complaining. He's finding out that Jade and he have a lot more in common than he initially believed, and they've been through a lot in Camp together, so he's protective of her and worries about her. He thinks she works too hard re: trying to figure out what's happening to them at school, and is worried that she's going to burn out. He would try to help more, but his method of dealing with things is mostly to ignore them and watch movies instead, so. '-' But he does want to help her! And he's worried that one or both of them will update to something horrible, augh. So he considers Jade a good friend and wants her to be okay. P.S. he is trying hard to remember the vegan thing, but he keeps forgetting. ;;

OKAY, SO

Ramona has quickly become someone who's important to Breeze, and has changed from being someone she just wants to emulate to being someone she considers to be more like a big sister/friend. She feels comfortable around Ramona and it's easy to talk to her! And she feels safe asking Ramona for advice or just what random things mean or about movies, etc. BUT at the same time she wants to come across as mature for her age (lol) and not like a kid, so she takes offense to things like PRESCHOOL BATTLE ROYALE. Her desire to come across as capable and mature is partly why she's way more likely to drop info about her home when she's talking with Ramona lately (the other part is just that she feels comfortable around her and isn't as likely to lie). See, I can totally spit-roast a hamster if I need too, look how adult I am!!

Because she feels close to Ramona, she wanted to tell her about the updating thing, because she was worried they would be hanging out and something would happen, and how awkward would that be?! But now she's in a quandary because she thinks she freaked Ramona out and maybe shouldn't have told her, and then Vanya and Ramona threw her that party which made her feel trapped and awkward, but she doesn't know how to express her feelings about anything so she just gets moody and bratty and yells at everyone and then runs away. She feels bad for yelling at Ramona and acting like a total brat around her about the party, and before when she accused her of acting weird out of nowhere, but part of her is like "fine, whatever, it's good because then it won't matter if something does happen." On the one hand she wants to find her and apologize but on the other hand she's like, NO I CAN'T DO THAT FEELINGS ARE FOR LOSERS.

But in their conversation in the woods Ramona said she liked hanging out with her and thought she was a cool kid most of the time and basically expressed that she hangs out with Breeze because she wants to, not because she feels obligated, and Breeze is someone who really, really wants to be important to people. So when Ramona said that, it made her really, sincerely happy in a way she's... not... usually... And now she feels like she turned around the very next time they talked and messed that up, what do.

Help, in my desire to act like a mature and capable adult I ended up acting even more like a bratty 13 year old, which I am, everything is terrible, the end!!! 8|

tl;dr She cares about Ramona a lot and just wants to watch movies with her and be mentored by her forever and never update or have feelings.

No that's fine mine is probably going to be longer and include a lot of dumb headcanon because that's where I'm playing it from and god knows the color editions are waiting to Joss me on everything

So, to start, Ramona doesn't really care about people a lot. Like, ever since Gideon she has been actively trying to be more considerate and pay attention to people, ask them how they are, do little things like that but when you get down to it she can really leave most of her relationships without much of a backward glance. Even the ones she cares about and has emotional investment, there's kind of a feeling of obligation there keeping her grounded alongside it. And suddenly Breeze is in that "I give a sincere shit about your welfare" which is weird because Breeze is a dedicated commuter of the bad decision dinosaur rides, this is really not a person I would choose to care about. But somehow it happened where she went from just being a total pestering annoyance to a friendly pestering annoyance, to "I am not your big sister, don't even say that--what are you doing, put that down 8|" in Ramona's mind. VERY GRUDGINGLY.

Being really cagey about sincerely caring and being cared about notwithstanding, hearing about this update thing is really hammering the whole Feelings in to Ramona, which frankly freaks her out. Part of it was that the Poltergeist discussion was actually skirting close to her biggest traumas with the older sister (who died from a boyfriend: something Ramona worries about in her own life) and the little sister (who died from an illness, like my headcanon says she lost her brother) so...she can see Breeze's issues in what she went through when she was thirteen (canon suggests she lost her brother between twelve and fourteen, SO THIRTEEN IT IS FOR ME). Because while Breeze is trying really hard to be all "LOOK HOW ADULT I AM I'M NOT A KID" all Ramona wants to do is grab her by the shoulders and explain "when it comes to this, you're a child because you haven't lived long enough yet and no matter how mature you pretend to be it's always going to feel like the worst thing ever for the people around you." But she doesn't because she Ramona Flowers Never Talks About Her Trauma and because all it would do is make Breeze angry at her. Ssssssssoooooo...it's just a lot of awkward.

I should mention as an aside there's this weird thing that Ramona isn't particularly concerned with Breeze maybe dying. Not in a fighting giant monsters sense. Even if she did, you can come back in camp, she's got backup plans, it's fine. She's concerned that Breeze feels helpless about it because it's just going to happen with the update, that there's nothing she can really fight or circumvent or run away from, and Ramona thinks that is honestly the most terrifying thing about it. That any closure she might get is outside of her control, and Ramona deeply understands feeling helpless about those things at thirteen. She made many terrible ass decisions after it, was generally a horrible person and bitch, still thinks her family doesn't really love her because of it, etc. etc. Basically it's hard to ignore those feelings when there's first hand empathetic experiences going on with the other stuff.

And, coming from that place, Ramona just want to kind of show Breeze she's trying to be there for her. Even in a very "hey whatever you want" way like their last conversation. And doing things like being recruited for a party thing with Vanya, because hey they're friends okay that's something. So when Breeze snapped at her for it with that BETRAYAL face, Ramona tried to play it off, but then hit on some already really sensitive subjects, made worse by circumstances, annnnnd Ramona just retreated. Because she didn't want to tell her that the whole chicken soup feelings vomit thing to Roxie did make her realize that she really cared about what happened to her, so she's doing that thing of "oh okay this attempting to care about someone even in a very feigned casual way is really blowing up in my face TIME TO RUN AWAY FROM IT."

tl;dr Ramona gives a shit about Breeze, this apparently ruins everything, she's currently trying to fix that with alcohol and making Roxie pull extra girlfriend duty with her moodiness
